Pantone 2014

Hi there! It's Miae here at the end of 2013 to take a look at a subject about 2014....color!

Pantone released their color of the year for 2014, Radient Orchid and I thought it would be fun to make a page dedicated to the new up and coming color, get that purple out of my system, yeah!

UmWowStudio has such unique looking chipboards, so of course I wanted to use a standout one to represent Radient Orchid. I chose the Cicada Bug with it's beautiful, slightly asymmetrical wings.

After applying a layer of gesso, I covered the Cicada with Distress Paints and other acrylics. Then I added some glitter.

Because the page is monochromatic I wanted to make sure the Cicada didn't get lost in the background. The Hexagon Background chipboard in a contrasting color came in handy. I colored it with gold acrylic paint and cut the shape down. I also used the Circle Confetti Mask all over the background to give it dimension and variability.

And there you have it, my "....harmony of fuchsia, purple, and pink undertones"!

UWS Cicada Bug
UWS Hexagon Background
UWS Circle Confetti Mask

Distress Paint in Seedless Preserves and Mowed Lawn

Christmas 2013 {12x12 by Kylie}

Hi, Kylie here! Have you ordered any of UmWowStudio's amazing Winter and Christmas themed products yet? At the time I did this layout, neither had I. But all is not lost, if you order now, your chip will be arriving just as you're thinking about printing your Holiday pictures!

Can you believe my daughter's daycare took Holiday pictures in October? I hadn't even begun to think of Christmas when I got the photographs, but I just HAD to scrap this one. And I've been waiting to share it for a while.....
I utilized several of the UmWow Studio collections to make this layout and the Authentique Joyous line. I particularly enjoyed cutting the Heartstrings Chipboard down to use as 'icicles' (heartsicles?) on my tree. I spritzed them with a little silver glimmer mist to give them just the right amount of shimmer.

I love including banners on my pages and for this page I use a combination of the Layered Banner and Layered Triangle pieces. I really like the contrasting shapes and think they work well together. Especially with a couple of Santa's and some chipboard confetti thrown in.

Here are a few close ups of from the page:
And a full list of products:
UmWowStudio HeartStrings, Layered Hearts, Heart Confetti, Star Confetti, Layered BannersLayered Triangles and Flair. Authentique Joyous paper, die cut stickers and letters. Other products: Thickers letters and Twinery twine.

Happy Holidays everyone!
Kylie

Art Completes You

Hello, it's Amy here today to share a layout I created using a photo of my daughter, who is at this time, very hopefully waiting for an acceptance letter from an art school she is really wanting to attend. For my Haley, art is everything. It heals her, it's the air she breathes, and as my layout's title says, it completes her.

For this layout, I used LOTS of the gear mash, because frankly, I am just insanely in love with these gears. I mean......they layer like magic, and I. Love. Layers.
I have also used the circle confetti mask, to help me make those doodled circles....it's the best guide for a girl who cannot doodle to save her life (and make it look presentable), as well as the layered circles chip, and the star confetti.
Thanks so much for popping by today and having a look. Hopefully art completes YOU, and you are inspired to start layering....gears, stars, circles...the options are endless!

Supplies Used:
UmWowStudio: Star Confetti, , layered circles, gear mash, circle confetti mask
Paper: 7 Dots Studio, Graphic 45, Studio Calico
Stamps: Viva Las VegaStamps! (Italian Sonnet Background, Area 51 Warning, Compass by Brian Kesinger).
Washi Tape: Gauche Alchemy, Tim Holtz Idea-ology, Paper Issues, Smash
Metal: Prima, Bead Landing
Flowers: Prima
Inks: Ranger (archival ink in coffee), Tsukineko (momento, tuxedo black), Clearsnap (mix'd media inx, denim).

A Little LOVE from Jess

Hey there, everyone!  It's Jess here today with a little bit of UmWow LOVE!

I know we're all in the holiday spirit right now but I always have time to celebrate love too.  This layout has a small, blurry, bad quality Instagram but it's the three people I love most in the world and that makes the photo precious to me.

I used lots of bits and pieces of UmWow goodness on this.  Layering is my game so I started with some areas of molding paste through punchinella and added patterned paper and my photo, plus lots of tags.  The chunky chevron border was perfect for drawing the line of vision across the bottom of the page when I cut it in two.  I also painted the "adore" bubble from the love speech bubbles and added it over the photo.

Flair makes me happy so I used two different pieces on this page... the first is in the center of the title O in LOVE and the second decorates the upper left corner with another heart.

I also painted a smattering of circle confetti and a large open circle from the layered chip circles to "connect" the main area with the corner embellishment.

Thanks for stopping by today!

UmWowStudio Supplies:

- Chunky Chevron Border- Love Speech Bubbles

- Sidewalk Chalk Flair

- The 2 of Us Flair

- Circle Confetti

- Layered Circles

Here & Now Mini Album

Hi everyone!  Chrissy here with a fun little mini album I did for my grandma.  She misses me and the great grandkids very much since we've moved here to Okinawa.  I made this album showing our adventures here so far.  There's so much we've done so far and I'm really excited to share it with her.

I love making and adding my own pages made from materials I have on hand.  This album is no different.  I fashioned some pages using Gauche Alchemy Ouchless Cardboard.
I'm such a fan of mixing things up and using different things, themes, and ideas.  I added some Chevron Confetti, Heart Confetti as well as some Geekery Flair to this album. I usually leave my chipboard pieces naked, but a little heat embossing and a little glitter go a long way in making my chipboard pieces even more awesome.

One thing I do love, is my sewing machine!  I love that it can do all of these fancy shmancy stitches.

Gotta love how my youngest just hams it up!

Here, we have a heart from the layered hearts set as well as some "Oh the Places You'll Go" flair.

Yes.  They are holding a python and they loved every bit of it!

And there you have our adventures so far! I highly suggest taking flair from other themes and adding into your current project.  It doesn't have to match.  It just needs to go.

Cheers!

Today we have CHRISSY up first with this amazing mini using the Curiosity collection by Authentique.

Chrissy says "Here's a book I made for my son so that he learns to set goals. The book was super easy to make and Authentique's "Curiousity" 6x6 pad was perfect. Add some Geekery Flair and Star Confetti for the perfect finishing touches and you have a cute little daily reminder to carry in a book bag or purse."

Next up is a 12x12 by Jess Mutty:

Jess Says: I used the two lovely lines from Authentique: Be(you)tiful and Blissful. They coordinate perfectly with each other and happen to be focused on one of my favorite color combos, gray and yellow. They were also the perfect choice to use for this photo of my little fashionista in her gray and yellow market skirt.

Of course the touch of pink adds just the right amount of girly, along with sweet UmWowStudio confetti hearts, love speech bubbles, and the cute polka dot flair from The 2 of Us set. That's a lot of love!

The speech bubbles and heart confetti are a match made in heaven for this little cluster above my photo. I love them!

UWS products:
Symbol Mash Chip
Heart Confetti
The 2 of Us Flair

She Is Genuine

Good morning UmWowStudio fans! It's Amy here today, to share a canvas I made, with all kinds of chipboard "star power."
I started by tearing the edges of the photo (I printed it on copy paper), and adhering it with gel medium, then burnishing with a brayer. This helped the photo become a part of the canvas, then I gessoed and blended from the photo corners out. The fun part was creating and blending the drips of paint, mist, and ink. I plan to do a video tutorial, sharing this technique, so keep an eye out!

I added sprinkles of the star confetti to my cluster of embellishments (including a layered star, stamped with the ever so perfectly fitting star pin stamp from Viva Las VegaStamps!) and a few of the gears from the gear mash .

For a little bit of whimsey, movement and sparkle, I used the circle confetti mask, ink, and some sparkling blue embossing powder. I love how it creates another layer of dimension on the page.

I hope maybe you were inspired today, to get your create on! Grab your UmWowStudio chipboard pieces, masks, and some paint and ink...and get messy. It's the perfect way to ward off the Monday blues.....I promise.

Quick and simple with UmWowStudio {12x12 layouts by Kylie}

Happy Monday! It's Kylie here with some quick, simple layouts using some of my favourite UmWowStudio embellishments. While scrapbooking is a great creative outlet, sometimes I just want to get the memories down on paper. I challenged myself to scrap a couple of quick pages and Imanaged to do both of the layouts below in under 20 minutes each.

The first layout is of my daughter riding her Dad's shoulders at Boo at the Zoo. I used UmWowStudio Boo flair, Layered Pumpkin and Star Confetti chipboard and the @ sign is from the Symbol Mash.

Other products used on this layout include Kraft Ouchless Cardboard from Gauche Alchemy, Maya Rd journaling spot, Thickers letters, Making Memories paint, ribbon from my stash and the lion is from Sassafras.

The idea for this next layout has been floating around in my head ever since the UmWowStudio Spooky Branch arrived in my mailbox. And I'm REALLY happy about how it turned out. The pictures are of my brother and his kids on Mother's Day last year (these were taken in New Zealand, so it was Fall there). The 'leaves' on the branches are Heart Confetti and Layered Hearts. I think this would work really well with the new UmWowStudio Layered Leaves, Medium Leaf Confetti and Leaf Confetti too.
And a couple of close-ups of my tree, cos you know, I think it's awesome......
The other products used on this layout are Thickers letters and Bazzil cardstock.

Have a great week! And don't forget the UmWowStudio and Authentique Challenge that is running through the month of November.

Authentique and UmWowStudio

Welcome to another installation of Throw Back Thursday with our uber talented friends over @ Authentique!

We're using oldie but goodie products from both companies in an effort to share some great TBT inspiration with you! We're also inviting you to complete a project of your own using both UmWowStudio and Authentique products (any and all products qualify!) Link up at the bottom of the post and be entered to win a prize pack full of Authentique and UWS goodness! Ends the end of November♥ Need some UmWowStudio to help?? Check out this promotion!

Now see what our super talented Creative Team has put together for inspiration!

First up is Kylie Drake with {wonder}

Kylie says: I loved the Curiosity line from Authentique and almost called this layout "Curiosity", but Halloween was truly a wonder for my little girl this year. She had an absolute blast at Boo at the Zoo and then again Trick or Treating. The Curiosity paper perfectly complemented this photo and the message I was trying to portray in the layout. I loved how I was able to use one of the curiosity die cuts on the banner and the monkey from the Abc patterned paper. My favourite element is the tri-layered pumpkin in the bottom right hand corner.

And next we have Miae Rowe with Street Food:

Miae says: "I'm not quite ready for Christmas yet! So I decided to use my Christmas paper for a non-Christmas layout. The polaroid frame turned out to be quite handy for bringing the focus to the title in pattern heavy page :)."

Now! Hope over to the Authentique Blog and then get to making your OWN papercraft using Authentique + UmWowStudio to win a prize package full of both!
