A Quickie Card.......

Life can get BUSY.....

as it has been around my house lately,

celebrating the holidays....

creating for Creativation.....
Then I REALIZED.... I was late for my
UmWowStudio post.

SHAME ON ME!

So....I ran to my craft table to whip up a QUICKIE Card!

I began by randomly covering my card face using various

UmWowStudio Stencils

Flurries Stencil

Handwriting Stencil

Diamond Confetti

I didn't dry the texture medium

between layers as I was looking for

the "white noise" effect

more than complete stencil look.

When the texture medium was dry,

I spritzed a bit of glimmer mist onto

my craft mat and dragged my card through the color.

I then chose 

UmWowStudio Iris Flower chippie

I painted the leaves and stems green

and the Iris's white.

When dry, I painted on a bit of Black Orchid,

my color for 2017,

 and spritzed with a bit of water and dried.

I added a few layers of burlap

and tied a bit of jute around my card to finish it off.

And before I knew it.....my QUICKIE card was READY!

Hello UmWowStudio fans!  It's Kris here today with a fresh bold layout of my little girl featuring chipboard, flair, and a stencil from the UmWowStudio store!

I used the Checker Board stencil in a couple of ways on my background!

(I had bad lighting while creating my layout, so I apologize for the poor in-progress photos.)

After spreading a layer of clear gesso over a piece of white cardstock and allowing it to dry, I used the Checker Board stencil with a pencil to add some diamond shapes to the cardstock.

I then applied lots of color using sprays/mists, and when dry, I used the Checker Board stencil again, but this time with super heavy gesso, to add some white contrast and texture.

While my layout background was drying, I treated a Distressed Harlequin Background piece and some Diamond Confetti with black acrylic paint.

While the chipboard pieces were drying, I went back to my layout and randomly stamped a triangle stamp around the page with black ink.

 I don't often make cards -simply because I just don't like giving them away to often.

The chipboard is simply covered in Gesso to make it white and the top Gear has been stamped with -Destination Unknown stamp set.

You Two by Sindi Jeffers

Hi everyone! I just stopped by to share this layout I created with my UmWowStudio goodies! I'm also going to share how I created some cool texture on the layered banner pieces.

I love this photo of my husband and little boy. This picture is a couple of years old, so that "little" boy is several inches taller now!

I used some drywall tape and white gesso to get that grungy texture on the chipboard. Here's a quick tutorial on how I did it:


You'll need your layered banner pieces, some gesso, and some drywall tape. I stole the tape from my husband. That's the best way to get drywall tape, of course.

Cover the chipboard with drywall tape. I let the tape go over the edges and stick to the surface under the pieces. This helps them stay in place. Use a paintbrush to cover the chipboard in gesso.

Next, peel off the drywall tape. I peel it while the gesso is still a bit wet. I've found that it sometimes scrapes up the chipboard and is just hard to peel if you let the gesso get too dry.

After the gesso dries, I glue the top pieces onto patterned paper. Then I trim around the edges with my exacto knife. From there, it's just a matter of attaching the top banner piece to the bottom. I like to attach them so that they are slightly askew and the bottom piece shows through a bit.



Here's the end result:

I leave the edges of the chipboard raw. It makes for a grungy, old window kind of look. I also added a few of the diamond confetti pieces in the center of my other paper embellishments.

Splat! By Sindi Jeffers

Hi everyone! Today I wanted to share a layout I created using some UmWowStudio goodies. The first thing I wanted when I made this team was a chipboard billy goat. Strange, I know. We have this goat that lives at our house. We got him to help clean up the weeds around here, and he has turned into a great pet. He is convinced that he's a dog and follows my son around like a puppy. Now that I have a chipboard billy goat, I just had to do my first layout about John, the goat!

This is a photo of him and my son playing in the big snow we had the other day. You've not lived until you've been chased around the yard by a tween boy and his large goat while dodging snowballs!

I covered the billy goat in some light blue paterned paper. I left the diamond confetti and arrow title mash piece untouched because I liked the way it looked in contrast to all the other elements on the page.

It's Geraldine back again today to share with you something special I made for myself. I wanted to break away from creating layouts and make something smaller and personal so I decided to create an UmWowStudio Tunnel Tag book.
The idea comes from a quote that I heard over 20 years ago and I always think of.....for me it's about taking flight and reaching!

Set your sights high, the higher the better. Expect the most wonderful things to happen, not in the future but right now. Realize that nothing is too good. Allow absolutely nothing to hamper you or hold you up in any way.
