Creative Team Introductions

I'd like to introduce you to the Creative Team Members that will be holding up residence on our blog from July to December :)

I'm Amy Lynne Lassiter, wife to my best friend from college, and momma to three daughters, ages 18,14, and 12. In my day to day, I am a librarian and classically trained singer.
Other than my amazing family, the thing I eat, sleep, and breathe is mixed media art and craft. I adore creating assemblage-style scrapbook layouts and canvases, tags, mini books, and altered projects; with an eclectic, free, and soulful vibe.

Hello, My name is Brianna. I am a soon to be 30 year old mother 0f 3, all girls, married to my highschool sweetheart. I currently reside in southern California, but I was born and raised in the beautiful state of Maine, USA. Aside from my obvious infatuation with pretty paper, I also live for a great coffee, HOT baths, loud and soulful music, and bare feet. My scrapping style is like me, fun, playful, at times random, but it always makes me happy, and I cannot wait to show that through these amazing products!

Hi, I’m Geraldine Pasinati and I live in Melbourne Australia.Painting, art and mixed media has been a passion since early childhood and now for the past 10+ years so has Scrapbooking. My creative passion is for layouts, tags and Journals (well really anything!) and my style is always simply about being 'me'.I’m very excited to be part of the wonderful UmWowStudio CT!

Jennifer Matott is a mixed media/Encaustic artist, art teacher and scrapbooker from outside of Syracuse, NY. Jennifer has a BFA in Sculpture and Painting for which elements cross into the realm of her current artwork. She has been scrapbooking and creating mixed media art for over 20 years.

Hello! My name is Miae and I live in California with my husband, our 2 wee girls, and our 2 doggies. I've been scrapbooking since 2006 and I still can't get enough of it! It's my creative outlet. I don't have a particular style as long as I put some paint and mixed media on my projects. I'm also very excited to be a part of the UmWowStudio CT!

Greetings!  It's Rhonda Van Ginkel from Minnesota. I've been paper crafting now for a little over 5 years since the birth of our youngest son.  I'm wife to my supportive hubby Chuck and we have 2 young boys ages 5 and 6.
I'm super thrilled to be a part of the UmWow Studio Design Team and can't wait to share my creations with you!

I am a working mom, working outside the home. I have been crafty since I was a little girl (I have my grandma to thank for that) and created my first scrapbook over 15 years ago. My latest obsession with scrapbooking started 3 years ago and I haven't stopped since. My children are grown, so much of my crafty inspiration comes from my two French bulldogs, Moose & Flikka. I live in snowy Salt Lake City, Utah, but am an Mid West girl by heart. I consider myself a craft chameleon. I frequently move from one type of crafting project to another. One day I am obsessed with creating scrapbook layouts, and the next day I'm obsessed with mixed media art. I really enjoy mixing up my projects to keep it fresh and interesting. I currently design for - Frog Dog Studio & My Mind's Eye and have been blessed to be published in Somerset Memories, Artful Blogging, Scrapbook Trends, and Creating Keepsakes.

Creating is a way of life to me. Without it life would loose its colors. I am very happy to stay at UmWowStudio DT for another term ♥

Welcome these girls by leaving them some love and be entered to win an UmWowStudio prize pack!

This is the Life by Anai

Hello :)
Anai here with a very fresh spring layout made with UmWowStudio products and PanPastels :)

Last weekend I went for a little trip - there was a big polish scrapbooking convention in Warsaw, so I had a chance to meet with my creative friends. But my trip wasn't only about that. I wanted to spend some time with my friend and it turned out great. I had a chance to see amazing play at one of the theaters and it was really important event for me. The photo of the beautiful blond woman is from the play... whole scenography was sweet and in pastel colors - beautiful yellow flowers on the light violet/blue background... on the walls, on the floor, on the actresses dress. These scenography inspired me and I created my background in the similar colors.

My background is made mostly with PanPastels and very light acrylic paints. I used my favourite Circle Confetti mask, some doodling and stamps from the 7 Dots Studio "Illumination" collection.
I love Pan Pastels! They have a very unique effect - so soft and chalky.

"This is the Life" flair was just perfect for this layout. Not only because of the color. Not only because of the intensity of my last weekend ;) It also reminds me very strong about the play I've seen - it was bitter-sweet, very sad and difficult, but also it reminded me how important it is to enjoy the time we have!

UmWowStudio chipboards are always very fun embellishments to use. This time I covered them with beige paint, some Lindy's Stamp Gang mists and a bit of grey chalk ink. They look so amazing! I love how great they are for mixed media techniques!

I hope you like it :)
And remember - inspiration is everywhere. In the music, in the theater, in the fashion, and even on the wallpaper ;)

hugs
Anai

Bali Orchids by Manda

Hi everyone it's Manda here, fresh back from two glorious weeks in Bali, Indonesia. That of course means I have a whole stack of new photos to scrap! Today I am using the June sketch:

I decided to keep this one pretty simple because I felt like the photo was enough so other than the base paper and cardstock I kept pretty much to stamping and pan pastels. I started by using the orchid colour pan pastel and mixing it to look kind of like water colour. This was my first time using them so when I started out I wasn't sure how they would go but they are so simple to use that I am in love!
I also did some stamping to reflect the circles in the sketch. I used one of the Soar Tags and painted it with some Heidi Swapp Color Shine Gold Lame to give it a metallic look because gold is one of the colours that will be repeating through my album for this trip. I added some pink twine from May Arts and I was done. A very simple page but I am really happy with how stunning it looks (I am even thinking of hanging it on the wall for a bit).

If you want to play along with the sketch check out THIS POST with all the details and how to link up.

Have a beautiful day - Manda xxx

Love - art journal

Hello :)

Here is Tusia Lech. Today it is my turn to inspire you :) I created an art journal page about everything, what I love.

The background was created using PanPastels - 640.5 Permanent Green, 680.5 Bright Yellow Green, 660.5 Chrom. Oxide Green, 250.5 Diarylide Yellow. Then I have added some other media - Gelatos, Artist Pitt Pens, Watercolor crayons, Ecolines, Izinks, Indian Ink.

The texture was created using gesso and gel medium through UmWowStudio gorgeous masks - circle confetti and hexagon.

I covered UmWowStudio chipboard pieces with gold PanPastel - 911.5 Rich Gold.

I love art journaling - it gives me a freedom :)

"She" Gift Bags...

Hello and Happy Tuesday!

Tina Walker here today with fun way to use UmWowStudio Stencils, Chipboard, and Flair.

I've had these Maya Road burlap bags in my stash for awhile, and wasn't quite sure what to make with them.  I've been obsessed with using UmWowStudio Stencils recently, so I thought it might be fun to add some texture to the burlap bags with a stencil and embossing paste. (I used the Diamond Confetti Stencil for my project)

While the white embossing paste looks pretty awesome just like this, I wanted more color and depth to my burlap bag 'background', so I sprayed some of my favorite spray mist directly on each bag.

Once my spray mist was dry, I stamped several ladies on sprayed (with spray mist) cardstock and cut them out.  I added a few sequins and sentiments to each bag for additional interest.

On my larger bag, I added a Flair piece from the "Mustard 29" Flair set,  and a few painted/sprayed pieces from the "Layered Triangle" Chipboard collection.

Wouldn't these bags be great to give to a special friend or family member?  Add a small gift or hand-written note for a memory that will last a lifetime.

I hope you enjoyed my "She" Gift bag project today!  What are some ways you use UmWowStudio stencils, Chipboard, and Flair?  I'd love to see your projects!

June Sketch Inspiration by Amy

UWS sketch, Wings, FULL
Hello UmWowStudio fans!! It's Amy here today, to share a layout I created using this month's inspiring sketch!doily cluster
I am completely in love with the gorgeous doilies, and using them was a no brainer paired with the sketch. For the background, I used a vintage plastic doily that had belonged to my grandma, and the circle confetti mask, layering with paint and ink. Since I had blended the photo into the background, I did the same with the doily, painting and inking the background on a gradient.

Finally,  I added my embellishments, like the gorgeous butterfly kisses flair.
