Out Takes!

Hello everyone!

Hope you all have been enjoying the holidays!
This is my last post for UmWowStudio and I just wanted to give a big THANKS to DeeDee for having me as a part of her team! I have thoroughly enjoyed it!

Today I'm sharing with you a funny page called Out Takes....we resorted to selfies this year in order to get our Christmas cards out on time and here's some of the faces we pulled :)

I used the UWS Star Confetti Mask with Super Heavy Gel in Gloss on the background. When the gel dried I painted over the stars with watercolors.

I also used the 'This Happened' sign from the UWS Arrow Title Mash and covered it with gesso and a messy coat of blue metallic acrylic paint.

To emphasize one of the photos, I framed it with a large polaroid from the UWS Polaroid Mash collection. This I left raw because I love the look of it just the way it is!

So with that I bid adieu, happy holidays to everyone and may you all have a wonderful New Year! See you around the blogosphere!

Cheers,
Miae

One Crisp Magical Night

Hello, how's everyone doing? It's Miae here to share with you a winter canvas.

We've been making some Christmas crafts at home with my two girls and each of them have made a canvas so I decided to make one too :)

First, I painted the background with a mix of distress paints, blotting between layers with baby wipes until I got the look I wanted.

I'd been savoring my UWS Spooky Branch, and I thought this was the perfect scene for it! I kept it raw but created the look of snow sitting on the branches with Distress Stickles in Rock Candy and loose white glitter.

As for the moon, I used UWS Layered Circles and painted gesso over it. Next, I used a sponge to apply some grey acrylic paint. Over the dried paint I applied glitter glue in silver and some more Rock Candy.

The UWS Star Confetti came in ever so handy to scatter all over the scene. I glued them all down first then dabbed gesso everywhere, followed by a bit of silver glitter. Easy!

Now I've created a little scene that we can hang up each winter. Happy Holidays to you all!

Home by Miae Rowe

Hello and happy Friday!

Today I'm sharing a layout using the adorable Tiny House MASH. Those little homes are so cute and I've been eagerly waiting to use them!

I simply covered the houses with heavy acrylic paint....

I also used the Circle Confetti Mask to add interest. I mixed blue acrylic paint with gel medium to keep the dark blue color of the paint while still giving it texture when spread over the mask.

Hope you all have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by!

My Motivational Art Journal Page

Hello everyone,

It's my turn to hang out with all you lovely UmWowStudio people and today I've "brought" with me an art journal page to share!

I've had a strong need to paint lately but I've had no formal training, no exact idea of how I want to approach it and sometimes that thought hinders me. Well, I found this quote by Andy Warhol which was so motivating to me:

“Don't think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it's good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art.”

I made to AJ page to remind myself of that quote and I used some UmWowStudio goodness to help me express myself.

Do you know what I love about my UmWowStudio goodies? Their versatility! They're perfect for layouts but you can use them on canvases, altered projects, and of course art journal pages.

I used the Line of Chevron Mask and Circle Confetti Mask over the background.

To add interest to my sketch used various different confetti and randomly painted over them:

Go create and have fun!

Pretty in Pink

Hello all,

Today's layout is about my youngest daughter's love of pink. She is a princess-y kind of girl, through and through (despite her extremely un-princess-y mother and sister).

Of course I had to use some UmWowStudio Layered Butterflies but I also wanted to grunge it up a bit. I wanted to make them look vintage and metallic. What do you think?

The chipboard are so sturdy! Adding layers of acrylic paint and heat (to get the texture) was no problem.

I also texturized the Hexagon Background with some fiber paste and texturized the background with the Checkerboard Mask and heavy gesso.

That Wild Flower flair went so well with this page. I just had to emphasize it with some dark brown twine from May Arts.

Have a creative day!

The Plane! The Plane! - A Mini Album

Hello all!

Have you ever played with any of the UmWowStudio Books? They're such a fun size and there are very cool shapes to choose from.

I made a mini album with the Waterfall Bracket Tag Book. It's got these graduated pages so you get a sneak peek at the page beneath each top page....I like it! I used a ton of different UmWowStudio goodies to get this book done :)

We took a trip to the famous Maho Beach on Sint Maarten where the Princess Juliana Airport is. The planes have a very short runway and they fly right over a beach where there are always a ton of people waiting. It was nerve wrecking and exhilarating all at the same time!

Have a creative day!

How About a Little Happy This Monday!

Hello all!

Is it Monday already? Well, how about a page to put a smile on your face! I followed along with this month's sketch...it's a fantastic starting point to fill your head with ideas! Here's my girl, happy as can be and I think she's even striking a little pose....

I pulled out a bunch of my UmWowStudio goodies here :) For the background I used:

UWS Circle Confetti Mask
UWS Herringbone Mask
UWS Checker Board Mask

To create embellishments, I used several chipboard pieces:

And since I got my inspiration from the September sketch, I just had to throw in a flair (which coincidentally matched perfectly with Alpha Two!):

Hope that put a little happy in your day!

Temple Bayon by Miae

Hello all!

Have you ever been to Cambodia and wandered among the many temple ruins? We had an opportunity to do so last year and one of the amazing, standout temples we explored was Bayon. Here I'm sharing with you a photo of one of the many stone faces that grace Bayon's towers.

I wanted to create a page with an ancient feel. I loved the way the Brick Mask helped me do just that with the background. I used paper from 7Dots Studio Love is in the Air collecton, took an Oil Bar to the Brick Mask and created the background.

Next, I took the square chipboard from Layered Squares and cut them down to create rectangles (more along the lines of the bricks). To given them a more rough, stone look, I dabbed them with molding paste, then painted them with metallic watercolors.

There are jungles all around the many temples in Cambodia so I wanted to add a floral element to my layout. I took chipboard from the Floral Collectioin and painted them with Distress Crackle paint.

I hope you find some inspiration here!

I Reckon So

Hello everyone! Hope you're all having a wonderful day! Today I'm sharing with you my "not so typically romantic" romantic page:) I appreciate how UmWowStudio products can be used for such diverse subjects....including love and romance, while not being obviously so (unless you want it to be!).

I started off with paper from 7Dots Studio, Nature Walk and put some slabs of primary colors (mixed with molding paste for texture). After that I used a bunch of UmWowStudio goods.

I used the Twinkle Speech Bubbles to frame our question and answer. Left them raw of course, as I thought that would pop more against the bright primary colors. This Day Hashtag Banners add that extra bit of fun (and straight lines against the curves)...I also left them raw for the same reasons.

And aren't these Alpha ONE letters just the right size for fitting into the word bubbles? I painted them white to contrast against the raw chippies.

I couldn't decide which flair I wanted to use between the Sidewalk Chalk and Mustard 29 flair so I used both! For the Sidewalk Chalk heart I used the same acrylic blue paint as I did on my paper, on the space around the flair to make it match my paper. The yellow "love" flair I left alone as it fit my page perfectly. I added a teeny tiny "potty" couple from the fun Love Confetti collection (so fun!) to finalize that embellishment cluster.

Hope you have a creative day!

Little Fey

Hi there! It's Miae here to share a page.

I don't normally use florals on my layouts but I'm totally enamored with UmWowStudio's Floral Collection and just had to have a play with them!

I love the variety of shapes and sizes this collection has. To emphasize the two pieces on the page, I gave them texture and used a bright color. I covered the chipboard with gesso then used a spatula to slather a fair amount of acrylic paint mixed with molding paste. Once I glued the chipboard down, I outlined them with Derwent Inktense pencils, spritzed water and painted around them. Love the way they turned out!

I used 7DotsStudio, Messy Head collection as my paper. To alter it, I stamped, painted with watercolors, then used the Hexagon Confetti Mask with acrylic paint to "stamp" areas of the background. The randomness, the texture, again I loved the result! And of course I had to use the Heart Confetti throughout the page since they tied in so nicely with my photo :) I covered them with gesso then colored them with chalk ink.

I used flair from the beautiful Make A Wish set to embellish the focal cluster. A picture of blowing dandelions has such a sweet, magical sentiment. I tied it into the color scheme of the page by covering it with clear gesso and flicking watercolor paint onto it.

Hope you got some inspiration from that! Have a wonderful day......!
