One Crisp Magical Night

Hello, how's everyone doing? It's Miae here to share with you a winter canvas.

We've been making some Christmas crafts at home with my two girls and each of them have made a canvas so I decided to make one too :)

First, I painted the background with a mix of distress paints, blotting between layers with baby wipes until I got the look I wanted.

I'd been savoring my UWS Spooky Branch, and I thought this was the perfect scene for it! I kept it raw but created the look of snow sitting on the branches with Distress Stickles in Rock Candy and loose white glitter.

As for the moon, I used UWS Layered Circles and painted gesso over it. Next, I used a sponge to apply some grey acrylic paint. Over the dried paint I applied glitter glue in silver and some more Rock Candy.

The UWS Star Confetti came in ever so handy to scatter all over the scene. I glued them all down first then dabbed gesso everywhere, followed by a bit of silver glitter. Easy!

Now I've created a little scene that we can hang up each winter. Happy Holidays to you all!

Supplies:

Distress Paints in Chipped Sapphire, Weathered Wood

Nature's Artistry by Miae

Hi everyone,

Miae here to share a bright and cheery page (and speaking of cheery...Happy 4th of July for those celebrating!).  This page is about mother nature's amazing artistic ability (and oops I meant to spell ARTISTRY!). That butterfly in the photo is called the Owl Butterfly...easy to see why, right? Mother nature designed those wings perfectly!

I wanted to convey an organic feel here and the Damask Mask worked perfectly. To create part of the background, I misted the damask shape onto the cardstock, I also "stamped" with the mask, and finally I mixed green paint with molding paste and masked the damask shape.

And of course I had to use one of the Layered Butterflies to complement this page. I covered it with Snow-Tex and dabbed green paint over it.

To balance the page, I added butterflies to the right side using May Arts Butterfly ribbon, and a dash of pink using a Layered Circles chipboard cut in half and painted pink and stamped. I think the VLVS tree stamp is just beautiful and helps add to the movement.

Enjoy your day!

Guest CT - PEG HEWITT

We have a layout from one superbly grungy delicious Peg Hewitt to share with you today :

UmWow has to be my favourite chippy company right now, with such original designs AND masks!! I feel a little blessed to have been asked to do a page to share with y'all. I have used the line of chevrons mask  with a black inkpad to draw attention to my photos and the layered circles, embossed and stamped with Stazon ink, to embellish my page, a spray of star confetti links the circles.  The background was created with Dylusions in yellow and red and a circle stamp, and I have used some 7Dots Studio 'Nature Walk' 6 x 6 designer paper for photo mats. I love how this turned out and am looking forward to playing some more with this awesome chippy.
Thanks DeeDee!

Thanks for joining us on the blog today Peg!! Your layout has lovely grungy layers as always, and we're glad to have you join us for a short period of time!

The Pen Is Mightier by Miae

Hello there!

As most of you know, this month we're using Pan Pastels on our UmWowStudio pages and projects. I really wasn't that familiar with how to use them prior to this page but I must say I'll definitely be using them more now! The colors are beautiful and they were so easily blendable! In fact, except for the black swirly marks, all the color that was added to this page is from Pan Pastels!

To alter these feathers from the Feather Trio collection I first covered them with book paper. Next I lightly gessoed the whole feather. After that I blended two Pan Pastel pinks for color and shading. Finally I stamped with a word stamp.

So I discovered an interesting property with Pan Pastels and clear gesso....the clear gesso (not white) seems to dry with a more gritty, toothy texture so the Pan Pastel adheres to it better. For my background I had used the Circle Confetti Mask and clear gesso all over the background. When I rubbed the Pan Pastels over the background, the pigment really 'stuck' to the gesso and you could see the mask pattern very nicely.

So I covered all the rest of the chippies (from the Soar Tags and Layered Circles) with both white and clear gesso before coloring them with Pan Pastels. Love the effect!

And I mustn't forget to mention, I used the beautiful papers from 7Dots Studio Nature Walk collection along with the word stickers and Butterfly Kisses Flair. The neutral colors went so well with the hues provided by the pigment!

Hello Friends!!

We're excited to bring you some inspiration in a team up of UmWowStudio and Authentique in true THROW BACK THURSDAY fashion! We'll have 3 posts through the next month, always on Thursdays, to inspire you in various ways of using older (but still gooder) UmWowStudio and Authentique goodness!

We're also inviting you to complete a project of your own using both UmWowStudio and Authentique products (any and all products qualify!) Link up at the bottom of the post and be entered to win a prize pack full of Authentique and UWS goodness! Ends the end of November♥

Now... for our inspiration! First up we have the talented Amy Lassiter:

She's used the Be(YOU)Tiful Collection from Authentique.

And secondly I'm sharing my own projects, 2 cards:
Both have been made on the Loyal collection by Authentique. What I love about UmWowStudio is that it can be either just a sweet embellishment, like in the card above, which uses the Star Confetti from UmWowStudio.

Or, UmWowStudio can be a main component and eye piece like the Layered Banner pieces, Layered Triangle pieces and Star Confetti that have been layered on top of each other in this card.

Thanks so much for stopping by to see our inspiration! Make sure you stop by the Authentique blog to see what they've been up to, also! And link up below any projects using both UmWowStudio and Authentique to win one of TWO giant prizes! We'll draw one winner here, and Authentique will draw one, too!

Today I'm sharing a layout I created as an Inspiration Post over @ the Amazing Crafting Products Blog. Head over there to learn more about the new Amazing Mold Rubber they've released!

My layout is a 12x12 based off the Simple Scrapper sketch and I'll be linking up @ Paper Issues.

I really really superbly love this layout! The base is a piece of Cosmo Cricket paper from the Fleuriste collection. The white piece is Limba cardstock from the Paper Issues store. I've used the Circle Confetti Mask, Layered Circles chipboard, Star Confetti chipboard and Sidewalk Chalk Flair from UmWowStudio. All the chipboard has been covered with Archival Ink by Ranger. Chevron Washi Tape from Gauche Alchemy. Row of Stars, Full Moon and Writing Background stamps from Viva Las VegaStamps!. White Box Pleat ribbon from May Arts Ribbons. The bulb is molded with Amazing Mold Rubber and cast in Amazing Clear Cast Resin by Amazing Crafting Products. I also used Tattered Angels Chalkboard Mist in Charcoal.

You can really see the wood grain on the Limba paper in this close up shot. GOOD NEWS! Design Team coupons are back @ Paper Issues and you can use mine to get 20% off goods!
So if you love this wood grain cardstock as much as I do use coupon code "UmWowStudio" to get 20% off your order!

? -- {A 12x12 by Kylie}

It's Kylie up today and she's got an adorable Red White and Blue layout to share!!

I know that I have raved and raved about the colour of the UmWowStudio chipboard, but let me tell you again just how much I love it. Kraft coloured supplies have long been a favourite of mine and UmWowStudio has totally impressed me with the quality and colour of their chip. So I like to use it naked. And here, it fits perfectly as a complement to my red, white and blue layout of my daughter's July 4th pic from last year based on DeeDee's July sketch. The expression says it all really, so I decided to break out the UmWowStudio Symbol Mash and titled the layout {?}. I included some of the Layered Circles as accents too.

Other Supplies: BoBunny and Canvas Corp papers, Maya Rd envelope and ticket, The Twinery twine, ric rac and film diecut stickers from stash. And a manky Gelly Roll pen that gave up halfway through the journalling!

Heart & Soul {a 12x12 layout}

Hi Everyone!! Today I'm sharing a beautiful layout by Creative Team member Jess Mutty.

As well as:
Patterned paper: Pink Paislee, Studio Calico
Cardstock: American Crafts
Mist: Heidi Swapp
Punchinella: Gauche Alchemy
Stickers: Pink Paislee
Rub ons: Pink Paislee
Stick Pin: Little Yellow Bicycle

Jess says : "I've had my eyes on both the layered circles and this large ampersand since I first saw them!  Sometimes naked chip is exactly the right feeling you want and these pieces inspired the whole page from the color scheme up. I kept to neutral tones and a repeating circle theme throughout.  The chipboard circles were awesome layered on top of the printed circles... subtle but they added great dimension and detail.

And the ampersand was a super title element! It was large enough to overlap my photo and tie the rest of the title into the white space to the right.  I want more of these!"

I can't get over the gloriousness of the almost clean and simple but just not quite, the beautiful layering and the bold chip!

Sweet Cousins {12x12 by Kylie}

I really wanted Kylie on my permanent core team for two reasons. 1) because she's Kylie. and 2) because she has this KNACK for a casual style of layout, perfectly embellished, and in color combos I'd never use. and I'm TOTALLY impressed by them.

Today she's got a 12x12 for us called "Sweet Cousins"

Kylie says "I really, really, really can't stress enough how much I love the colour of UmWowStudio raw chipboard. The colour complements this fall photo perfectly, so I wanted to showcase it here in all it's unrivaled, glory.

Supplies used:
UmWowStudio Layered Circles, Layered Clouds, Layered Stars, Maya Rd bingo numbers and ribbon. Canvas Corp patterned paper. Studio Calico covered chipboard camera. Everything else from stash."
