Destination Unknown {7 Dots Studio & UmWowStudio MASH UP}

Hello folks! DeeDee here today to inspire you with Destination Unknown!!!

I can't say it often enough... so here I go again. I'm SO lucky to get to design papers for the wonderful company 7 Dots Studio. I'm just as equally lucky to own UmWowStudio and design pieces I want... AND I'm even more just as lucky to get to coordinate the two!

During the month of May the DT from 7 Dots Studio and the CT from UmWowStudio are inspiring you using the collection from both companies... we'll here I am today, as the owner, creator, and artistic mind behind Destination Unknown to inspire you :)

I've put together a couple of tags to share.

The tag bases are two pieces of watercolor paper cut using the Sizzix / Tim Holtz #8 die. I use this die for almost EVERY tag base, because it allows me to cut this nice large delicious tag from any sheet of almost any material that I desire. Fan girl!

The tags have then been layered up with lots of deliciousness like dimensional adhesive, altered chipboard, fibers, a Waybill/Invoice background stamp from VLVS! and more. Both tags also have a layer of the Destination Unknown Diecut Tags from 7 Dots Studio.

The left tag is comprised of a chunk o' May Arts Webbing to resemble a fishing net, some atlas paper, and pieces of UmWowStudio chipboard from the Sea Life Set, Coral and Mermaid Duo. The chipboard has been altered with Gesso and Glimmer Mist.

The right tag is layered up with a distressed piece of cheese cloth, washi tape, paper doily, some sewing and a Viva Las VegaStamps! rubber stamp { Whale Tail }. It's also got layers of UmWowStudio chipboard from the Sand Dollar and Starfish sets. The Starfish Wishes is a sentiment sticker from the sheet included in the 7 Dots Studio Destination Unknown collection pack

Both tags were finished with some May Arts burlap twine.

Delish right?

Nature's Artistry by Miae

Hi everyone,

Miae here to share a bright and cheery page (and speaking of cheery...Happy 4th of July for those celebrating!).  This page is about mother nature's amazing artistic ability (and oops I meant to spell ARTISTRY!). That butterfly in the photo is called the Owl Butterfly...easy to see why, right? Mother nature designed those wings perfectly!

I wanted to convey an organic feel here and the Damask Mask worked perfectly. To create part of the background, I misted the damask shape onto the cardstock, I also "stamped" with the mask, and finally I mixed green paint with molding paste and masked the damask shape.

And of course I had to use one of the Layered Butterflies to complement this page. I covered it with Snow-Tex and dabbed green paint over it.

To balance the page, I added butterflies to the right side using May Arts Butterfly ribbon, and a dash of pink using a Layered Circles chipboard cut in half and painted pink and stamped. I think the VLVS tree stamp is just beautiful and helps add to the movement.

Enjoy your day!

Bali Orchids by Manda

Hi everyone it's Manda here, fresh back from two glorious weeks in Bali, Indonesia. That of course means I have a whole stack of new photos to scrap! Today I am using the June sketch:

I decided to keep this one pretty simple because I felt like the photo was enough so other than the base paper and cardstock I kept pretty much to stamping and pan pastels. I started by using the orchid colour pan pastel and mixing it to look kind of like water colour. This was my first time using them so when I started out I wasn't sure how they would go but they are so simple to use that I am in love!
I also did some stamping to reflect the circles in the sketch. I used one of the Soar Tags and painted it with some Heidi Swapp Color Shine Gold Lame to give it a metallic look because gold is one of the colours that will be repeating through my album for this trip. I added some pink twine from May Arts and I was done. A very simple page but I am really happy with how stunning it looks (I am even thinking of hanging it on the wall for a bit).

If you want to play along with the sketch check out THIS POST with all the details and how to link up.

Have a beautiful day - Manda xxx

two tags by Tusia Lech

Hello ladies :)

Today my turn to inspire you a little bit :) I created 2 tags using UmWowStudio products, May Arts ribbons, PanPastels and some more products.

Background was created with PanPastels and some stamps. I have added also a layer of vellum.

This tag was meant to emanate with love, so I have used Love Confetti chipboard pieces and The 2 of us flair.

The second tag is about lack of perfection. We should accept imperfection - we are humans, not robots :) And I wanted to created a small reminder of this :)

I have used UmWowStudio Circle Confetti chipboard and wonderful Wild flowers flair.

So be sure to stop by each day this week, all three blogs, comment on the posts, and be entered to win! We have three fabulous prizes, one from each blog. (this prize is open all weekend long. Winners announced next week!)

Our final two projects for this amazing hop are one by Anai:

I wanted to create something very sweet and romantic for our swap :)
I made a birthday card mixing all the goodies in a very girly way.
I started with floral stamps from the Avery Elle "Petals and Stems" set. It's a great set, which allows you to stamp all the elements separatly and then make your own floral composition in layers. You can see more photos of details on my blog (http://anai.pl/blog/?p=3567). On the bigger flower I used clear glitter from Ranger - the effect is just stunning :)
And I have to say - I fell in love with this amazing lace with a pearl beads in the center! It's so elegant, so delicate, so great for the romantic cards!
Then I just added few UmWowStudio goodies - tag from the "Nature Walk" collection, delicate flair, amazing BlueBell chipboard and some circles made with our mask and texture paste :)
As you can see - our swap is really great - so many different styles, so many different ideas!

Today we have two more FABULOUS pieces to inspire you..

One by Manda :

"When I saw the To The Point Stamp Set from Avery Elle I knew I had to have it - chevrons and banners are something that are classic and I know I will be using this set all the time. I used the ribbon to add some texture to the page both by layering it under a stamped banner and ruching it with my sewing machine and tucking under the photo. A layout about this darling girl would not be complete without some of the heart confetti!"

UmWowStudio Products used:

and One by Tusia :

I have created a layout using lots of goodies :) 7 Dots Studio Nature Walk paper is a background for gorgeous UmWowStudio chipboard pieces and flairs, beautiful May Arts ribbons and wonderful Avery Elle stamps. I have started with stamping using Texture Tiles: Be Cool stamp set (http://www.averyelle.com/texture-tiles-be-cool-photopolymer-stamps/) from Avery Elle. Than I have used UmWowStudio Line of Chevrons mask (http://umwowstudio.com/masks/100091.html). Stamps and mask matched perfectly and I decided to add even more perfection :) so I have used UmWowStudio Chevron confetti chipboard (http://umwowstudio.com/chipboard/confetti/100041.html).

Around the photo I have worked with May Arts ribbons and UmWowStudio flair, together with some thread and UmWowStudio chipboard pieces. All paper elements and stickers are from 7 Dots Studio

Today we have Miae up:

UWS products:

I altered the UWS Ray chipboard with gesso, Kroma crackle medium, color shine and PearlEx powders.
I used the AE sunburst stamp all over the background, then used the MA Webbed Weave Ribbon as a stencil with high gloss gel medium. I also made my own "enamel dots" by stamping with the small AE circle in pink then covering the dots with Glossy Accents. Then I outlined the pink circles with MA Pink Waxed Cord ribbon.

The final touches to the page were the AE chevron arrows and UWS Wild Flower flair.

love this by Tusia Lech

Hello :)

Here is Tusia today with a simple layout. A photo, which I used for this layout, waited for 2 years, to be used :) But I wanted to give it great setting and I just waited for some vein :)

On the photo below you can see UWS chipboard with heart - I would like to share with you the way, I altered it. I have used Ranger Stick it embossing powder - so firstly I used embossing ink. Then I sprinkled this special embossing powder, which once heated, becomes very sticky, so I could sprinkle the whole piece with dry glitter and it immediately adhered. It shimmers so the camera cannot focus in it :)

Below you see gorgeous May Arts black ribbon and Make a Wish flair from UWS.

As you probably noticed, I covered also a photo frame with embossing powder. This chipboard piece comes from Make A Wish Pocket chip set and I covered it with two different embossing powders - Zing blue and Lindy's Stamp Gang Azure Blue. I left some areas untouched, because I wanted to achieve more grungy look.

One more idea for altering UmWowStudio chipboards - Love This Arrow Title chip was covered firstly with Faber-Castell Stamper's Big White Pen, which is definitely more comfortable than using white gesso. Than I created some watercolor effect using Blue Faber-Castell Pen.

Thank you for visiting UmWowStudio blog today :)
Hugs,
Tusia

Sketch Inspiration {Daddy's Gloves 12x12}

Hello Hello!! DeeDee here again, today.

Today I'm inspiring you using yesterday's grungy stampy delicious sketch! (Which you have all month to enter, of course)

The sketch!

And I worked up the following 12x12 based on it.

As you can see, that's my Oobaloob (Gabe) wearing his daddy's work gloves. He makes the cutest faces when I take photos, so I knew the photobooth styled photos in the sketch would be a perfect way to show them off. The paper base is from our dear friends at 7 Dots Studio from the brand new Cold Country line by Finnabair.

I took advantage of the grungyness in the sketch by laying out some Blick gesso underneath the spot for my photo. I've layered up tons of Viva Las VegaStamps! rubber stamps (Color Wheel Lines, Coffee Ring Stain, Victorian Flourish, Waybill/Invoice Background and Rear View Vintage Car) all in black Archival Ink by Ranger. In this cluster there's some Gauche Alchemy Washi Tape, Element Die Cuts from Nature Walk by 7 Dots Studio, Prima embellishments, and an UmWowStudio bit from the Gear Mash which has been swiped with a black ink pad.

Here is a bit more stamping and clustering, including a piece of Chevron ribbon from May Arts, those great stamps from VLVS!, a Prima brad, a tag reinforcement from the Soar Tag set and a piece of flair from Moon Shine.

Here's a great close up of what our fabulous chipboard looks like with just a dab o' ink! Take any color ink of any type ink pad you want, and just swipe it right across your chipboard piece. If you press hard enough it will color the whole thing, or you can lighten up a bit and get a more mottled, grungy effect like this. I used a Black Archival pad by Ranger to swipe across a couple pieces from the Layered Triangles. You can also see in this photo a bit of the checker pattern from our Checker Board Mask. I just misted a bit o' instant coffee through the mask for a nice dull but noticeable effect.

And finally... I used one of the frames from the Movie ATC frames set, chopped off 1/3 of it and slid it under my raised photo sequence. It's a great anchor. The title is 'Daddy's Gloves' and was made using a basic dymo label maker. I also finished off with some random stamping around the page using a date stamps to mark the occasion.

Thanks for stopping by to see me today :) It's always a pleasure to connect with the UmWowStudio fans. See you next time♥ DeeDee

#UWSbigbash Day 2

Let's move forward with our fabulous week o' celebration!!

Day 1 this week started off with an introduction to some of our brand new products! And today we're sharing some beautiful inspiration by our talented design team and a giveaway... but first:

Up today is Manda with two superb celebration themed cards>

Birthday Card:
For this card I used the Banner MashI painted the larger pieces in gold and then inked the smaller pieces with my chalk edger then topped them with some enamel dots. The background was made using the Star Confetti Mask which I inked with my Versa Mark ink pad and then embossed in white. Next I took my distress inks and a dauber to give it a rainbow hue.

Make A Wish Card:
I made this little card into a filler card for my Project Life album. To start off I covered the Make A Wish Pocket Chip card with gesso, then I used a mixture of Gelatos to give it an ombre wash. Next I took some of the Star Confetti and covered with Versa Mark and embossed with gold embossing powder.

And Miae with the most adorable personalized little card:

right?
Hooray! UmWowStudio is having a birthday....it's FIRST! And to celebrate they are having a party ALL WEEK LONG! There's going to be all sorts of fun stuff happening so I hope you don't miss out.... I used the Celebrate ConfettiBanner MASH and Chevron Mask.

Whitewash your chipboard!

Hellloooo :)

DeeDee here, today! Don't worry, soon enough we'll have some super fab new designers posting projects and bits all over the blog. I can't believe the talent that was interested in joining our team, and I can't wait to introduce you to each new member! Stay tuned :)

for NOW -- I want to share with you a recent project I did and a quick tutorial in video format on giving your UmWowStudio chipboard a quick ... "muting" ... as in making the gorgeous kraft color of our board a bit lighter and easier on the eyes. We are slowly but surely adding products and materials to our website that will and are great to use with our products, like the Golden Gesso.

let me start by showing you the project:

This tag can be found on my personal blog, as well as the Scrapki-wyzwaniowo challenge site, so graciously sponsored by 7 Dots Studio

And here is a closeup of the look we'll be achieving for our chipboard.

You can get all the details in the following video, just grab your Nature Walk Floral Collection chipboard and some Golden Gesso

I also gave everything else on the tag a nice brush of gesso to help tie it all together. The Golden gesso is just perfect for that because it's so thin. Stay tuned for more tutorials, and other types of gesso, too!

>Extraordinary< {a 12x12}

Time for a little SKETCH inspiration!!! Remember this debut yesterday?

I based this layout on the brand new sketch:

It occurred to me a few weeks ago (When my little sis visited us for Christmas) that I could scrap pictures of HER and do them nice and girly♥

Love my background? Have you heard of the GELLI PLATE craze?? Well check out my post over on the Amazing Crafting Products Blog -video alert!- It's all the rage to create  your OWN plate out of durable high quality Amazing Mold Rubber! And I used mine to mono-print my background. The base of the layout is a sheet of beautiful 7 Dots Studio paper. On top of the paper is my mono-printing in Gesso and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. I picked up a super cool technique from CT member Miae and printed using UmWowStudio's Circle Confetti Mask. (take a peek @ the ACP blog to see the video!)

Embellishments include the UmWowStudio Nature Walk Butterfly, Heart Confetti and the Reinforcement from the Nature Walk Soar Tags. There's a Coffee Ring and { w i t h   l o v e } stamp from Viva Las VegaStamps!, a super cool vintage tag from a color kit by Gauche Alchemy Kits, Prima flower and bark hearts. All the gorgeous pink comes from the brand new Puffy Sequin Hearts by May Arts! I used one whole heart, one half heart and cut a bunch of sequins off of three other hearts. Last but not least, just a little thread, adhesive and kraft paper distressed in Walnut Stain Ink.
