Blessed are the curious

Hello everyone,

I have a tag to share today. I have heat embossed the butterfly chipboard and filmed the process so I don't have to explain ! lol

As a base a used a piece of design paper. I added some stamping, scribbling, a little gesso and embossing.

The butterfly is placed on some silk sari ribbon which I have stitched down the sides.

You will find the Butterfly HERE.

I am trying to use up my old stash of bits and bobs, these paper flowers are of that stash so I added a brad from the same stash and glued the whole thing down onto the tag...

I think it turned out nice, now if you like to know what I did to the chipboard then hop over to YouTube and have a look !

I hope you enjoy watching.

Until next time !

MoJo is on Vacation

Hi UmWowStudio fans.....
can I just say....I hate it when my creativity
decides to take a hiatus and I have a deadline!!
What do you do??
As for me...I start scanning challenges and mood boards
once again I landed on
Our Mixed Media Moods

so I just began creating.....
with no plan or any true inspiration.
I did like the transparency ideas
so I decided to begin there.
I pulled out a piece of Tissuestock
and a tub of Modeling Paste

Now, where I went from there is quite the journey.
I cut the Tissuestock into a tag,
painted the back with Glimmer Glam,
adhered another piece of Tissuestock ~ French Script,
then a piece of Kraft Cardstock
I colored things using
Distress Oxides
Glimmer Glam to name a few.
I was kinda getting there but still not really happy...

I thought that if maybe I began working on
the UmWowStudio Butterfly chipboard
Now, the one thing I LOVE about
UmWowStudio Chipboard
is it stands up to most anything you do to it
and still looks FABULOUS.
I painted my Butterfly,
added Glitter Glass,
cut the wings apart.
and spritzed the back with water.
You can actually watch the water
soak into the chipboard,
which allowed me to manipulate the chipboard.
Still not happy, I added more paint.
Now, it was beginning to take shape....
I adhered a piece of branch for the body
....and there it was.

I found a quote, stamped it onto a manila tag
and cut it apart.

It all worked....
though not my finest piece it was a great exploration
of various papers and medium
....and I'm HAPPY.

THANK YOU for stopping by.....

Vole by Magali Le Luc

Happy to see you here today!
I want to show you my last creation made with 7dots papers and the fantastic UWS products.
As you are now used to see it, I love to leave the chipboards in their natural colors. I simply LOVE their natural wood color.
Here are some close ups, which will help you to see how I layered the different elements in this layout. I choose a sepia picture to keep consistency with the natural color of the chipboards.
Have you seen these wonderful chevrons? They can be perfectly layered to create your own personal effect.
You may have noticed a doily too... I cut it into two parts and place it at the top and bottom of the picture. As my title means "FLY", I added a little butterfly as a reminder of it. I've also used the bee card from 7dots Studio.
See, the doily here...

Oh the Places You'll Go! Mixed Media Layout by Kris Berc

Hello UmWowStudio fans!  It's Kris here today with a sweet layout of my little girl featuring chipboard, flair, and a stencil from the UmWowStudio store!

I chose to leave the chipboard pieces unaltered for this layout.  I think their raw color adds nice contrast to this otherwise pastel-colored page.

I tucked some messy thread beneath the chipboard pieces for some fun texture.

I glued this fun piece of flair to the center of this beautiful butterfly chipboard piece, and then adhered this layered embellishment on top of some messy thread with some foam tape.

Oh how I love heavy gesso with stencils!  Here I've used the Checker Board stencil on a torn piece of patterned paper.

other products:
patterned paper: Blue Fern Studios
flowers: Prima Marketing
script stamp: Prima Marketing
sprays: Lindy's Stamp Gang, Prima Marketing
misc: date stamp, white thread

I hope you have a wonderful week :)

O Sole Mio by Magali

Magali here to show you my first creation for September.
Are you ready for Autumn already? Here in Quebec, we are enjoying a long lasting summer this year!
More than 40 degrees Celsius this week!! And the title of my page is inspired by this beautiful weather...

Today, I want to share a layout with a delicate touch of gold.
As you can see on the image below, you can add a beautiful gold look by spraying gold ink (here, I used Heidi Swapp Color Shine ink). Just let dry and add to your layout.
Here is my layout. The gold is less easy to see but it's here! ;)
Don't hesistate to layer different chipboards, because this highlights their shapes.
Here you can see the gold butterfly over a tag! This technique could be perfect for a card too.
And here I layered the star over the bubble!
Just have fun with the different chipaboards!

Here are the UWS products I used:
Nautical Stars
 Sequins confetti
Layered butterflies
