Destination Unknown {7 Dots Studio & UmWowStudio MASH UP}

Hello folks! DeeDee here today to inspire you with Destination Unknown!!!

I can't say it often enough... so here I go again. I'm SO lucky to get to design papers for the wonderful company 7 Dots Studio. I'm just as equally lucky to own UmWowStudio and design pieces I want... AND I'm even more just as lucky to get to coordinate the two!

During the month of May the DT from 7 Dots Studio and the CT from UmWowStudio are inspiring you using the collection from both companies... we'll here I am today, as the owner, creator, and artistic mind behind Destination Unknown to inspire you :)

I've put together a couple of tags to share.

The tag bases are two pieces of watercolor paper cut using the Sizzix / Tim Holtz #8 die. I use this die for almost EVERY tag base, because it allows me to cut this nice large delicious tag from any sheet of almost any material that I desire. Fan girl!

The tags have then been layered up with lots of deliciousness like dimensional adhesive, altered chipboard, fibers, a Waybill/Invoice background stamp from VLVS! and more. Both tags also have a layer of the Destination Unknown Diecut Tags from 7 Dots Studio.

The left tag is comprised of a chunk o' May Arts Webbing to resemble a fishing net, some atlas paper, and pieces of UmWowStudio chipboard from the Sea Life Set, Coral and Mermaid Duo. The chipboard has been altered with Gesso and Glimmer Mist.

The right tag is layered up with a distressed piece of cheese cloth, washi tape, paper doily, some sewing and a Viva Las VegaStamps! rubber stamp { Whale Tail }. It's also got layers of UmWowStudio chipboard from the Sand Dollar and Starfish sets. The Starfish Wishes is a sentiment sticker from the sheet included in the 7 Dots Studio Destination Unknown collection pack

Both tags were finished with some May Arts burlap twine.

Delish right?

Nature's Artistry by Miae

Hi everyone,

Miae here to share a bright and cheery page (and speaking of cheery...Happy 4th of July for those celebrating!).  This page is about mother nature's amazing artistic ability (and oops I meant to spell ARTISTRY!). That butterfly in the photo is called the Owl Butterfly...easy to see why, right? Mother nature designed those wings perfectly!

I wanted to convey an organic feel here and the Damask Mask worked perfectly. To create part of the background, I misted the damask shape onto the cardstock, I also "stamped" with the mask, and finally I mixed green paint with molding paste and masked the damask shape.

And of course I had to use one of the Layered Butterflies to complement this page. I covered it with Snow-Tex and dabbed green paint over it.

To balance the page, I added butterflies to the right side using May Arts Butterfly ribbon, and a dash of pink using a Layered Circles chipboard cut in half and painted pink and stamped. I think the VLVS tree stamp is just beautiful and helps add to the movement.

Enjoy your day!

Sketch Inspiration {Daddy's Gloves 12x12}

Hello Hello!! DeeDee here again, today.

Today I'm inspiring you using yesterday's grungy stampy delicious sketch! (Which you have all month to enter, of course)

The sketch!

And I worked up the following 12x12 based on it.

As you can see, that's my Oobaloob (Gabe) wearing his daddy's work gloves. He makes the cutest faces when I take photos, so I knew the photobooth styled photos in the sketch would be a perfect way to show them off. The paper base is from our dear friends at 7 Dots Studio from the brand new Cold Country line by Finnabair.

I took advantage of the grungyness in the sketch by laying out some Blick gesso underneath the spot for my photo. I've layered up tons of Viva Las VegaStamps! rubber stamps (Color Wheel Lines, Coffee Ring Stain, Victorian Flourish, Waybill/Invoice Background and Rear View Vintage Car) all in black Archival Ink by Ranger. In this cluster there's some Gauche Alchemy Washi Tape, Element Die Cuts from Nature Walk by 7 Dots Studio, Prima embellishments, and an UmWowStudio bit from the Gear Mash which has been swiped with a black ink pad.

Here is a bit more stamping and clustering, including a piece of Chevron ribbon from May Arts, those great stamps from VLVS!, a Prima brad, a tag reinforcement from the Soar Tag set and a piece of flair from Moon Shine.

Here's a great close up of what our fabulous chipboard looks like with just a dab o' ink! Take any color ink of any type ink pad you want, and just swipe it right across your chipboard piece. If you press hard enough it will color the whole thing, or you can lighten up a bit and get a more mottled, grungy effect like this. I used a Black Archival pad by Ranger to swipe across a couple pieces from the Layered Triangles. You can also see in this photo a bit of the checker pattern from our Checker Board Mask. I just misted a bit o' instant coffee through the mask for a nice dull but noticeable effect.

And finally... I used one of the frames from the Movie ATC frames set, chopped off 1/3 of it and slid it under my raised photo sequence. It's a great anchor. The title is 'Daddy's Gloves' and was made using a basic dymo label maker. I also finished off with some random stamping around the page using a date stamps to mark the occasion.

Thanks for stopping by to see me today :) It's always a pleasure to connect with the UmWowStudio fans. See you next time♥ DeeDee

BE {Splash of Color & May Arts}

Hi folks!! Each month May Arts and Splash of Color are teaming up to share ways to use their colors on our ribbons!

Up this month is May Arts FLOWERS

--And there's a giveaway : 2 spools/boxes of MA ribbons and a selection of SoC paints!--

As a little inspiration on using Flowers and Radiant rains, I've got a tag to share today!

This is the very first time I've used Radiant rains, and I canNOT believe how beautiful, bold and metallic the colors are!! These are seriously my all time favorite mists. FOR SURE. NO lies! The red splatters all over the tag is Splash of Color Persimmon Radiant Rain.

I also used May Arts 1.5 inch Black Sheer Woven Rosettes and May Arts Sheer Box Pleat. The tag has been cut using Sizzix/Tim Holtz tag die and the bottom punched with a Martha Stewart edge punch. I distressed the tag with Walnut Stain distress ink and water. Then comes the gesso through a mask, more distress ink, the radiant rain, tape, stamping, the thread, the ribbon and some chipboard embellishments.

Tape from Gauche Alchemy, Line of Chevrons and Be Adorable stamps from Viva Las VegaStamps!, Star Confetti chip and Circle Confetti Mask from UmWowStudio. Random supplies: thread, adhesive and gesso.

And now.. I Get to share!! Today I'm sharing with you a 12x12 layout. When Bethney mentioned Ribbon Cutting Ceremony I immediately thought of big red bows being cut right in half, trimmed edges and straight up strips of ribbon. So I set out to commemorate our first home as a family with these things in mind. Needless to say the work took me in a slightly different direction, but never the less RED and RIBBON are still recognizable!

I layered up some gorgeous ribbons ( 447-1-01 | 336-38-14 | SM08 ) to embellish this layout.

I clipped and layered my ribbons, along with 7 Dots Studio (Domestic Goddess paper and alphas,) Viva Las VegaStamps! stamps (Star, Grid Background, Striped Border Arrow, Coffee Ring,) Gauche Alchemy (Washi Tape,) UmWowStudio (Layered confetti chip, Black and Blue Flair, Chevron Lines Mask,) Pink Paislee (Luxe Alphas,) Prima (flower and leaf,) Tattered Angels (Charcoal Chalkboard,) My Mind's Eye (Epoxy brads,) Archival Ink by ranger in black, Stazon ink in red, a black pen.

Beach Sighting -- {Viva Las VegaStamps! & Genuinely Jane Studio}

Hello everyone! Today we're hopping with Viva Las VegaStamps! and Genuinely Jane Studio!!

We're combining some superb wooden albums with our gorgeous, deeply etched, high detailed, pink rubber stamps!

You should be here from LORI. If not start over @ the VLVS! blog :).

Today you saw THIS Sneak peek:

The whole piece is a Barn Door Album that I've tied together in a display piece:

I started by scene stamping some different images to create an under water scene. The stamps I used from left to right for the scene stamping on the bottom: Sea Scene - Leaf - Mountains and Cactus (this was PERFECT for the bottom of the ocean!) - Century Plant - Long Shell - Sunken Anchor - Leaf (again) - Helix Shell - Century Plant (again).

I also used the Scuba Diver, the TadPole, and the Jellyfish in the background. I stamped all stamps in black archival ink by Ranger, then colored my wood with glimmer mists. I laid down some tissue tape and my photo, then collaged shells all around the base. The shells were covered with glimmer glaze. I then decked out the collage in glitter, seed beads and e beads.

Other supplies used : UmWowStudio small shipwheel, May Arts Ribbons Twisted Burlap, a starfish, cheesecloth, adhesive.

I grabbed my Anchor stamp and my Line of Chevrons stamp as a final step to completing this baby!

The Stuff Dreams Are Made Of {Gauche Alchemy | UmWowStudio Swap}

Hello Friends!!! Welcome to the first day of our UmWowStudio and Gauche Alchemy swap!

Gauche Alchemy is a mixed media kit company that specialized in the most amazing themed kits of vintage ephemera and mixed media supplies. They also offer mixed media supplies sold separately, like washi tape, specialty papers, punchinella and more! Gauche Alchemy : Site | Store | Facebook

We've paired up this week to use their awesome kits in conjunction with our awesome chip and flair! Up first on our side this week is... MYSELF! :D I've got a 12x12 to share today:

Supplies:

UmWowStudio:

Gauche Alchemy:

Other:
Viva Las VegaStamps! Striped Border Arrow stamp and Row Of Stars stamp, May Arts Ribbons Box Pleat, Echo Park Paper chalkboard cardstock, Pink Paislee Alphas, Recollections alphas, Ranger Archival ink black, Tattered Angels glimmer mist, Studio Calico Mr. Huey, Dymo label maker, black and white gesso, adhesive, gel medium, glitter.

The whole entire premise of this layout is based off this super kick ass tag/envelope that came in the Gauche Alchemy White Mixed Media Kit! The sequins and the sequin butterfly are its brothers in arms! I put some inside and then sewed it shut, making sure there were enough sequins to be seen in the window. Then the layout came to life in my head and I set to work on the background!

I used GA's punchinella as a mask with some white gesso, to get some big gorgeous circles. They ground the two main parts of my layout. On top of the gesso I layered some washi tape, ribbon, gel medium, cheesecloth, seed beads and sequins. The chipboard was altered with gesso, then layered with gel medium and doused in glitter.

I tore the corner of the tag/envelope and let the "stuff dreams are made of" trickle down the page and surround my two sweets. I finished it off with a little dripping, a little doodling, and a little stamping.
>>>While you're visiting us this week -- be sure to leave comments!

We've got one $20 gift certificate for Gauche Alchemy to give away (and they've got one of ours!) -- and if you can't wait to see if you're the winner of either giveaway : use coupon code UmWowGA2013 for 10% off in EITHER shop!<<<

Find Your Voice Catchup

Hi Folks!! Catching up on some find your voice goodness! I've really enjoyed this workshop so far and am loving the things I'm realizing / learning about myself!!

I'm doing a little catch up but it's not too shabby!

First I really wanna share how the cover of my journal turned out. I ended up cutting a few personal pieces on my cutter and binding together a ton of water color paper. The Journey alphas are from Pink Paislee. The ribbon is from May Arts. That cute little face is from Mary Vogel Lozinak. The Heart Hands are BRAND NEW to the UmWowStudio site! Check them out! I also used UmWowStudio Heart Confetti and one of my newly designed stamps from Viva Las VegaStamps! the Striped Border Arrow.

This was my completion of lesson one.. doing a "you are here" page. The Glimmer Mist is Charcoal and Firefly. I used a piece from the UmWowStudio Love This Flair and You Are Here and GeoTag stamps from VLVS!.

I really loved these photos that everyone was putting together for Week 2  - so I put one together and made it into a page. I still have a few small details to fill in on the right. My mind map is a work in progress and I'll be sharing that later....

I really wanted to share though that this week UmWowStudio is the sponsor over @ Find Your Voice, and I'm also a contributor. You'll find the following photos with details here.

 But basically I've come to realize my love for infographic style information (like on the right) and will be implementing tons more of it into my work, as well as recording smaller more detailed happenings in our lives, rather than focusing on the large monumental stuff. Chances are we'll remember those anyways!

Take Note -- {May Arts Round 2 Submission}

Hello friends! Today I'm sharing my round 2 submission for the May Arts Ribbonista call!

I've made a set of tags (in true DeeDee fashion) to showcase my abilities with Ribbon. I had a few other projects floating around in my head, but this one really best exemplifies my style and talent, especially as of late!

I'm really so super stoked to share this project! I'm absolutely in LOVE with the way it turned out and have already put it up for display!

After the tags were complete I did a video tutorial showing off the ribbons and using the UK series of ribbon as a "binding" behind the tags to keep them all together!

The center (or 3rd) tag is sort of focal point... and makes the statement "Take Note". Then the rest of the tags follow, all showing things that are important, or we should remember, or maybe just keep in our thoughts. On the left we have the Love Serenade tag. It has a Prima flower at the top, UmWowStudio chipboard potty people and miniature heart frame, May Arts Silk, and a sticker from the BasicGrey collection pack.

Then we have Celebrate Everything; the stamps are Viva Las VegaStamps!, the flower and leaf Prima, and I've used the Silky Crush, Burlap String and Lace with pearls from May Arts. I gave the dancer a bit of color with a distress marker, and the stars were made using Gauche Alchemy punchinella and distress ink.

The middle tag has a corrugated butterfly, vintage button, Burlap String and Faux Burlap ribbons, a Prima flower and some gesso. The brackets are from Pink Paislee and the take note alphas are from Recollections.

The Be True tag has been adorned with an UmWowStudio chipboard daisy, Silky Crush, Box Pleat, Leaves, and Burlap String by May Arts, Making Memories gem brad, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, and a Viva Las VegaStamps! stamp.

And the last tag.. Be An Adventurer uses a few Prima flowers, a vintage button, cardstock sticker, cheesecloth, gesso and distress ink through Gauche Alchemy punchinella, Pleated Satin by May Arts and a stamp from Viva Las VegaStamps!. Everything has been adhered with three adhesives.. Zapdots, Fabric Glue and Quick Dry 450 all by Helmar.

Well! There you have it :) -- Come back next week for a tutorial on how I finished the chip on these tags, and good luck to anyone who's applying for the May Arts Ribbonistas Team!
