I'd like to say thank you to AJ for using us as one of her Blog Challenges this previous weekend!
Don't forget we have CropChocolate as our sponsor with a $15 crop credit to use on their site! (we are combining July and August for this prize and will be adding more to it)

Box-a-licious!
AJ over at A Chocolate Daily decided to host a scrap stashtacular this weekend! I may be getting a bit of a late start but she's been generous enough to give everyone until next Saturday to complete. This is what I did for Challenge #6
She wanted any box! I used Crate Paper, raffia, hot glue, and tim holtz distress ink.

SketchMania Prize July-August
The people over at CropChocolate have generously agreed to be the sponsor for the month of August with a $15 dollar crop credit prize! Since July is coming to a fast short end and we started later in the month I figured we could combine July and August for that prize. (I will be adding some other things to the prize through August so keep your eye out for those too!)
If you haven't seen CropChocolate.com I suggest you head on over and see what it's all about! They cycle through deals (continually adding new ones) with some FANTASTIC prices on all your favorite scrapbook brands. They also offer free shipping over $60 in the US. Check it out! It's well worth it. (P.S. no worries if you haven't been there, it will still be super easy to get your credits to you!)
And because we're combining July and August this means that those of you who have been playing since the beginning will have up to 8 chances for the prize! You will each be entered for the amount of times you played!
Thank you all for continually playing and we welcome any new players as well! And Remember: all sketches are open until the end of the month with the exception of the last sketch each month.. we give you a full week to complete it! (and the very first sketch because the linky closed before we could change it to stay open, sorry!)

SketchMania #3 - 7.21.10
Welcome back! Hope you had fun with last week's sketch and have been looking forward to this weeks!
Not much to mention except that each week I'm honored to show you what the lovely design team ladies do.. and this week we've added another! If you remember from the SketchMania Details Purnima will be joining in our fun when she can find the time and energy, and I've offered her this circumstance because just like the other ladies' work I'd like you all to see hers as an example whenever possible! Creativity should not be stifled just because it can't reach a deadline.. right Rachel? ;) ♥
P.S. I've also added a share button to the bottom of each post where you can share our sketches! remember to link back here (I think it does it automatically) Now you can show all your friends the fun sketch you play along with each week via facebook, twitter, mail, and a couple of others!
So without further commentary here is the sketch and our examples:

Trying my hand at collage..
Purnima (a super awesome friend who does amazing work and makes amazing jelly too!) gave me these cute little 4x6 black foam core goodness(es). I've been dying to try my hand at a collage - and where this is kind of sparse I think I like it.
Materials: the foam core goodness, Tim Holtz Distress ink, mask and film strip, Lost and Found cherub charm, our photo printed on a cream on cream harlequin pattern, a random piece of scribbled paper, acrylic for the splatters, a fabric ruler, aged gold brads and glue

One Fine Day..
I have been meaning to scrap these three little photos for SO long!! Well here they are.. Thanks to Sketchy Thursdays with their gorgeous sketch this week I was able to put them together with quite a few nice embellishments..
No - Lime green and black were NOT my/our colors. Actually, we didn't even really HAVE colors.. I just bought the dress and we got married in the court house lol. But I've slowly been getting back into the sewing world and the two colors of thread I have are lime green and black.. this worked well anyways! Speaking of; I also tried a new technique.. Sewing on my paper crafting and after a few mess-ups and cleanups.. I LOVE IT!

SM Details!!
SketchMania is a section of the UmWowStudio blog that features hand drawn sketches every Wednesday. They are by no means to be taken literal, and are kept blank of words for your inspiration. You pick which square does what. Heck! you pick how to use the layout! It could be an 8x8 or 12x12 scrapbook page, a card, a painting, a collage, whatever! The interpretation is up to you, my favorite saying is you interpret the sketch FOR you BY you. It's meant to be a tool, a guideline, your guardian angel if you need one. We just hope you take the time to share with us your creations! We love to see what everyone has floating around in that creative space we call our minds.
After talking it over with the design team I've decided on a few changes for SketchMania. From here on out I will no longer be closing the linky at the end of each week.. but instead will be leaving it open until the end of the month. So there will be roughly 4 weeks for the first sketch.. 3 for the second.. so on. We will then take into consideration ALL entries throughout the month for the prize!
This means you may have up to FOUR chances for each prize. GOOD LUCK!
I would also like to point out that besides myself we have three permanent designers who will (or do) have a button to the right side of the page where you can continually view their personal blogs. We will also have a more.. random designer who will show up whenever she has the chance! Her work is gorgeous and you will all love it, but due to circumstances she may not be able to contribute as often as the others.
Permanent Design Team:
I will also eventually be inviting a guest designer to help us with examples each month, this is set further for the future and we haven't decided on how to go about it yet. Thanks so much everyone for participating! Be sure to share us with your friends!
Feel free to link to us on your own blog! Here is the image:
And you can link directly to umwowstudio.com or undwowstudio.blogspot.com - both come directly here! Please if you post my sketches in your blog make sure they link back here, they are hand drawn by me each week and I take great pride in them!
Update: 7/21/2010: We have also made it super easy for you to share our sketches by publishing a link at the bottom next to the comment section! you can now share easily on blogger, facebook, twitter, google buzz, or by email!

SketchMania #2 - 7.14.10
Welcome back to SketchMania here at UmWowStudio every Wednesday!!!
We had so much fun seeing each of the entries that were submitted. Everyone does such fabulous work and we love to be inspired by you guys as much as you're inspired by us. With the sketches we try not to be too strict on what goes where... a square where I might put a photo.. you might put a pocket with a letter.. where I might put a ribbon you might put a line of text. We wish these sketches to be interpreted BY you FOR you - if you like to journal.. by all means journal! Photos are your thing? Please! show us your gorgeous family!
We also wanted to let you know, we do not mind if you post your projects on your own blog, nor if you post our sketch.. just make sure and link back to us letting others know where you got it! Besides.. we'll never have enough players!
Click here for SketchMania Details (new info on prizes, designers, guest designers!)
Here is the next sketch followed by some examples from the design team ♥
Just submit your entry along with your name and own blog site!

Card Challenge 6 - I love Challenges...
Mostly because in a challenge you get to see what a bunch of other really creative fantastic people can come with from some sort of prompt whether its a sketch, an adjective, a color or whatever!
Well here is Card Club Challenge #6. This challenge is a little unique because every two weeks the host/hostess changes. The idea was thought up by Rachel and she so graciously asked both Skyler and I to join. Anyone is invited to play and eventually in turn host as well! Just let us know if you'd like to play along!
Here is my card this go round:
My challenge is as follows; theme: remember when, requirements: any type of nostalgic idea/feeling/sense you have, and at least 7 embellishments (for a collage feel).
In my card the paper is from the AndreaVictoria line by My Mind's Eye. Embellishments include: one feather, one star brad, raffia, a hand embossed pop tab/ribbon slide, a small clothespin, one frame of a tim holtz film strip ribbon, a canvas covered button, and a key charm.
Due: 7/25/2010
Next Hostess: RachelMay
ENJOY!!

The Sweet Factory
I have been trying for a week + now to come up with my favorite store so I could enter a submission for the design challenge over at These are a Few of My Favorite Things. As the deadline is fast approaching (the 13th) I was starting to freak out! I could of course think of places like Archivers for all my favorite scrapbooking supplies, and the thrift store for tons of vintagy goods you would find elsewhere, or Whole Foods for all of my favorite oh-so-good-for-you snacks... and then I thought of the Sweet Factory.
The. Sweet. Factory. - doesn't it just sound like heaven already? I never went to the mall specifically for TSF but I sure as heck never missed visiting while I was there. And they were always so conveniently placed next to the theatre so that you would think "well one bag of candy in the theatre for $5 or 3 from TSF for $5" - it never failed you left with more like $30 though... All the flavors and colors and textures, old AND new! It was enough to drive ANYONE wild!
SO that's what I ended up doing this page about:
(EDIT: I forgot to add my tootsie roll flower!!)
here are the details by the way:
My favorite candies the store offers:
I made my own ribbon out of the colored tootsie roll wrappers as well as a scalloped flower:
