The Good Stuff with Rhonda

Happy Thursday to you and welcome to the blog today!  It's Rhonda here with my final post for 2014. It has been such an honor to design for UmWowStudio and DeeDee.

I had some fun with my page for today, using one of my favorite fun photos from this summer of my boys. I've mixed up my chip here with some fun designs and of course one of our beautiful flairs for my title.

"The Good Stuff"

Some details...

I thought it would be interesting to mix the Film Reel with the Flourish. I covered the flourish with some pearlescent paint. The film reel was painted with some Radiant Rain in pewter. The love speech bubble was colored with a Faber-Castell watercolor pencil in red, then I added a very dry brush to it.

I backed the film reel with some vellum, and the love speech bubble with pattern paper.  The variety of finishes on the chipboard elements makes for a really interesting mix of texture for the page.

A Vintage Page with Rhonda

Greetings and welcome to the UmWowStudio blog today!  It's Rhonda here to share my project with you.

I've been wanting to scrap this photo of my father and his sister for the longest time. When I found it again going through photos the other day, I really wanted to celebrate it.  There aren't a ton of photos of my Dad from his youth, so these are very special to our family.

I used some papers with a sepia type of feel to them. Once I selected my papers, I chose my chipboard embellishments that would fit the feel of the page. The Doilies chip was covered in a chocolate pearlescent product.  The Soar Tab was coated in gesso, then touched with a variety of pearlescent product to give a variegated feeling and match the photo.

Don't you just love those doilies?!!!

A bit of background stamping and ink droplets with a bit of cheesecloth helped pull the page together.  When I was done stamping, I added bits of Mica to the areas to create a bit of shine and texture.

Missing You with Rhonda Van Ginkel

Tuesday greetings to you and welcome to the blog!

I created a card for you today featuring the Miniature Blank Polaroid, a Flair and the background texture courtesy of the Harlequin Mask and some embossing paste.

Missing You Card by Rhonda Van Ginkel for UmWowStudio Featuring Miniature Polaroid Frame

I created the card by starting with my background layer, stitching it on and then applying the embossing paste using the Harlequin Mask. Let dry or you can heat set with a heat gun for a little speedier process.

I then dripped a few of my favorite coordinating colors into the masked design.  While this was drying I coated my Miniature Polaroid Frame with some Art Anthology Dimensional Sorbet Paint in Mint Julep.

When dry, I backed the frame with some coordinating paper and assembled my sentiments and other embellishments.

You and Me with Rhonda

Thursday greetings to you and welcome to the blog, it's Rhonda here to host today!

I decided to create a mixed media card for my project today using a mask, a chipboard tag and some flair.  I've also added in other elements like cheesecloth and hemp for texture and interest.

I started by using the Damask mask with some glass bead gel, then I sprinkled a few different mists and let them pool and run together a bit.

There is a chipboard tag from the soar collection on the right, it's been base coated with gesso, then pearlescent pens rubbed on it to create a variegated effect.

I just love our beautiful Flair and used the "You & Me" from The 2 of Us collection as a sentiment for my card.

Road Trip with Rhonda

Happy Wednesday to you!  It's Rhonda here to host the blog for you today.

I have a confession, I have some favorite chipboard elements and I was hoarding one of them. Do you ever have a piece or two that you just love like that?

We recently took a family vacation and I wanted to grab a few images that my husband shared on FaceBook.

Road Trip!

The View Finder inspired my page, I decided to add some funky pattern paper to back it so it looked like there was film in it. I coated it with Radiant Rain in Pewter.

One of the Layered Arrows was base coated with cream paint and I stamped an ampersand on it. The Confetti Heart was inked with a Cherry Red Ink.

The Christmas Speech Bubble was used to frame one of my elements.

August Sketch Inspiration with Rhonda

Happy Saturday to you! Rhonda here today to share my take on our new fabulous August sketch.

Did you get a chance to check it out yet?  If not here's the sketch:

Here's my take on the sketch:

I loved the design and stayed pretty close to it. You'll see a variety of UmWowStudio products on my page. One of my favorites, the Doilies was my starting point, along with the Damask Mask.  I base coated the doily in a pretty cream paint and then touched some Inka Gold for a bit of shimmer.

The sentiment flair was perfect to accent my photo here. On our recent vacation I was able to snap a few sweet candid shots. A love speech bubble was inked with a rainbow ink pad, then rubbed with some more Inka Gold to keep the bit of shimmer.

A few more layers were added with the Soar Tag which I stamped and embossed, then wasn't so happy with the look, so I painted over it. This gave the perfect texture and I left it. A Layered Arrow was coated with a Pearl Pen in Opal.

I had such a wonderful time working with the sketch and our products, I really hope you'll find some time and play along. For all of the details on our August Sketch, check out this post

Believe Tag with Rhonda

Happy Tuesday crafty friends!  It's Rhonda here today to host the blog for you.

For my project today I created a feminine inspirational tag featuring the relief of the "Believe" sentiment from our Christmas Speech Bubbles chipboard.

"Be You-nique and Believe"

Believe. One of my good friends always says this to me. It's funny how this one little word can have such a profound and calming impact. When I saw this in the Christmas Speech Bubbles, I knew I wanted to use in as part of the inspirational message on the tag.

Both of my chipboard elements were colored with some Smooch in Lettuce and a touch of Frosted Acadia. To accent the delicate features of the Leaf Stems I added some crystals from Prima in a variety of styles.

My Secret Story with Rhonda

Thursday greetings to you!  It's Rhonda here today with my very first post for UmWow Studio.

I was inspired by the Hexagon Background for my page. To begin, I coated it in clear gesso and then misted it with some Moon Shadow Mist, then sprinkled it randomly while wet with Pepper embossing Powder and applied heat to activate the embossing.

Once it dried completely, I flipped it over and used it as a mask to mist onto my background paper. I used TiffanyLou Blue and then set aside to dry.

I selected the Mini Polaroid with a heart relief and colored it with Whale Watch Blue. The heart was later colored in with a Blue Metallic artist pen. The Layered Clouds were misted with Splash Chalkboard mist and Whale Watch Blue. Once dry, I added some Glossy Accents to the layered cloud on the right.

Additional embellishments of enamel dots and sequins helped finish the page. The star theme of my "Life is Good" flair is one of my favorite elements on the page.
