Spring Tag by Jen

Does it feel like Spring might never come to anyone else? It has snowed in Central New York for a month with 3-4 feet on the ground (actually up to my windows) and the air so cold it hurts to breathe when you step outside!  I am so ready for a warm up!  So to brighten my cold, dreary, winter day, I made a spring tag with some UmWow Studio lovelies.
I needed some gorgeous color so after priming the chip with Faber-Castell Design  Memory Craft Gesso, I added a rainbow of Gelatos®to the tag.  Gorgeous!
So pretty with the raised texture from the stencil and Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Whipped Spackle.   Adding some UmWow Studio Flower Confetti and Alphas to create a fun ode to Spring!

Doesn't that chip just look amazing with the colored Gelatos®?  Makes it all tie together (with some ribbon and canvas threads, of course).
So, HELLO winter... here's the "#Memo". We want Spring in the worst way!  Come on, pretty please?
A little bee flair to give it some more spring and we are done!  I'm displaying this prominently on my mantel to remind me that it will be here sooner or later... sooner please!

A Vintage Page with Rhonda

Greetings and welcome to the UmWowStudio blog today!  It's Rhonda here to share my project with you.

I've been wanting to scrap this photo of my father and his sister for the longest time. When I found it again going through photos the other day, I really wanted to celebrate it.  There aren't a ton of photos of my Dad from his youth, so these are very special to our family.

I used some papers with a sepia type of feel to them. Once I selected my papers, I chose my chipboard embellishments that would fit the feel of the page. The Doilies chip was covered in a chocolate pearlescent product.  The Soar Tab was coated in gesso, then touched with a variety of pearlescent product to give a variegated feeling and match the photo.

Don't you just love those doilies?!!!

A bit of background stamping and ink droplets with a bit of cheesecloth helped pull the page together.  When I was done stamping, I added bits of Mica to the areas to create a bit of shine and texture.

You and Me with Rhonda

Thursday greetings to you and welcome to the blog, it's Rhonda here to host today!

I decided to create a mixed media card for my project today using a mask, a chipboard tag and some flair.  I've also added in other elements like cheesecloth and hemp for texture and interest.

I started by using the Damask mask with some glass bead gel, then I sprinkled a few different mists and let them pool and run together a bit.

There is a chipboard tag from the soar collection on the right, it's been base coated with gesso, then pearlescent pens rubbed on it to create a variegated effect.

I just love our beautiful Flair and used the "You & Me" from The 2 of Us collection as a sentiment for my card.

August Sketch Inspiration with Rhonda

Happy Saturday to you! Rhonda here today to share my take on our new fabulous August sketch.

Did you get a chance to check it out yet?  If not here's the sketch:

Here's my take on the sketch:

I loved the design and stayed pretty close to it. You'll see a variety of UmWowStudio products on my page. One of my favorites, the Doilies was my starting point, along with the Damask Mask.  I base coated the doily in a pretty cream paint and then touched some Inka Gold for a bit of shimmer.

The sentiment flair was perfect to accent my photo here. On our recent vacation I was able to snap a few sweet candid shots. A love speech bubble was inked with a rainbow ink pad, then rubbed with some more Inka Gold to keep the bit of shimmer.

A few more layers were added with the Soar Tag which I stamped and embossed, then wasn't so happy with the look, so I painted over it. This gave the perfect texture and I left it. A Layered Arrow was coated with a Pearl Pen in Opal.

I had such a wonderful time working with the sketch and our products, I really hope you'll find some time and play along. For all of the details on our August Sketch, check out this post

The Pen Is Mightier by Miae

Hello there!

As most of you know, this month we're using Pan Pastels on our UmWowStudio pages and projects. I really wasn't that familiar with how to use them prior to this page but I must say I'll definitely be using them more now! The colors are beautiful and they were so easily blendable! In fact, except for the black swirly marks, all the color that was added to this page is from Pan Pastels!

To alter these feathers from the Feather Trio collection I first covered them with book paper. Next I lightly gessoed the whole feather. After that I blended two Pan Pastel pinks for color and shading. Finally I stamped with a word stamp.

So I discovered an interesting property with Pan Pastels and clear gesso....the clear gesso (not white) seems to dry with a more gritty, toothy texture so the Pan Pastel adheres to it better. For my background I had used the Circle Confetti Mask and clear gesso all over the background. When I rubbed the Pan Pastels over the background, the pigment really 'stuck' to the gesso and you could see the mask pattern very nicely.

So I covered all the rest of the chippies (from the Soar Tags and Layered Circles) with both white and clear gesso before coloring them with Pan Pastels. Love the effect!

And I mustn't forget to mention, I used the beautiful papers from 7Dots Studio Nature Walk collection along with the word stickers and Butterfly Kisses Flair. The neutral colors went so well with the hues provided by the pigment!

Bali Orchids by Manda

Hi everyone it's Manda here, fresh back from two glorious weeks in Bali, Indonesia. That of course means I have a whole stack of new photos to scrap! Today I am using the June sketch:

I decided to keep this one pretty simple because I felt like the photo was enough so other than the base paper and cardstock I kept pretty much to stamping and pan pastels. I started by using the orchid colour pan pastel and mixing it to look kind of like water colour. This was my first time using them so when I started out I wasn't sure how they would go but they are so simple to use that I am in love!
I also did some stamping to reflect the circles in the sketch. I used one of the Soar Tags and painted it with some Heidi Swapp Color Shine Gold Lame to give it a metallic look because gold is one of the colours that will be repeating through my album for this trip. I added some pink twine from May Arts and I was done. A very simple page but I am really happy with how stunning it looks (I am even thinking of hanging it on the wall for a bit).

If you want to play along with the sketch check out THIS POST with all the details and how to link up.

Have a beautiful day - Manda xxx

Spread your wings...

Hello and Happy Monday!

Tina here today with a layout, featuring some beautiful UmWowStudio chip pieces, customized in color, just perfect for my layout.

While raw chipboard is beautiful sans color or product, coloring a piece of chipboard to suit the color palette you are inspired by, is pure magic.

The process to add color to my chipboard was very simply and easy, and the end result is gorgeous.

To create this beautiful watercolor effect, simply apply spray mist (with a brush) to your chip in several gorgeous colors.  Let the colors mix and blend and set aside to dry.

I backed each Soar Chipboard tag with a corresponding tag from the 7 Dots Nature Walk collection.  I love how the pattern peeks through the cut out.

I also applied the same technique to this large Butterfly, and Butterfly Confetti, then applied a bit of Glitter Paste to the large Butterfly for an added glimmer.

To add continuity to the entire layout, I applied the same Spray Mist to paper embellishments, stickers, and patterned paper.

So next time you are looking for a perfect embellishment, but do not have anything in your stash, pull out your UmWowStudio chipboard and create Magic!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great week.

Tina

Into the wild

Hello!
It is wiosanka today with another layout made of Nature Walk collection and amazing chipboards, flair and mask from UmWowStudio :-)
My project is about my younger son - Tomek, and his adventure with climbing :-)
I love the background effect that appears when I put gesso through Circle Confetti Mask :-) I think it fits excellent not only to the boyish pages ;-)
I also used Gear Mash - I just love them! And Soar Tag altered with some different mists.
Do You love flairs as much as I do? The flairs from UmWowStudio are very special - they're big but quite flat and that's why they're great for layouts :-)

Have a nice week! :-)
