it's an Art Journal kind of day

Hi UmWowStudio Fans....
THANK YOU for stoppin' by the blog today!

I decided to pull out my Art Journal
and have some FUN!

mixed media art journal page showcasing chipboard and stencils by UmWowStudio by Lynne Forsythe

In my UmWowStudio stash I have a bag
of pieces parts from various chippies
I applied the pieces parts to my journal page.

Step One UmWowStudio Chipboard applied to art journal page

When dry, I applied a layer of medium through

wonky circle stencil by UmWowStudio

Step Two apply Light and Fluffy Modeling Paste through Wonky Circle Stencil

When dry I covered the whole page with
clear gesso.

Step Three apply Clear Gesso over entire art journal page

Then, I let the coloring begin.
I spritzed the entire page with mist.
Then, I used a pipette to drop
color onto the page.
Next, I mixed Prills with
a bit of medium and applied randomly
to the page.
Lastly, I splattered on a bit of white gesso.

Step Four applied Tattered Angel Glimmer Glaze and Glam White Gesso Gel Medium and Prills

I pulled out UmWowStudio
UmWowStudio Signature Series by Lynne Forsythe Small Chiprboard
 and SMALL IVY
UmWowStudio Signature Series by Lynne Forsythe Small Chiprboard
and painted on a bit of gesso.

Step Five paint chipboard with White Gesso

When dry, I colored the Ivy.

Step Six paint UmWowStudio Ivy chipboard with Tattered Angel Glimmer Glam

I put it all together to finish my page.

Spring has SPRUNG!

The trees are sporting their baby leaves.
The animals are titterpated and

the birds are busy building their nests.
And FINALLY the sun has come out!

So, I thought embellishing a
Birdhouse would be apropos!
I began by covering my entire birdhouse
with white gesso.

I then cut paper to fit the sides of the birdhouse.

I then pulled out my
UmWowStudio Damask Stencil
and applied a bit of texture medium
through it.

When dry, I adhered the papers
to my birdhouse.
I spritzed my birdhouse and a bit of
vintage ric rack with a mist.

I applied a layer of texture medium to
a chippie for the
UmWowStudio Floral Collection
and then colored it with a bit o glam and mist.

I accented the
UmWowStudio Button Mash
with a bit of glam.

I had covered the roof with pieces of
decorative wood but I felt it needed something more.

So, I pulled out my
UmWowStudio ~ Grid stencil
and applied a bit of texture medium through it.

When dry I spritzed it all with a bit of mist.

Now, you know my birdhouse needed to
say something.
So, I chose a stamp, stamped it,
cut it out.

Here are a few closeups of my finished Birdhouse.

Do you see the little piece of the
UmWowStudio ~ Grid Border??

I hope you enjoyed my piece of Spring....

Steampunk Love Angel by Lynne

Hi UmWowStudio Fans.....
THANKS sooo much for stopping by the blog today!!

OK....so I stepped a bit out of my typical creative zone
to create this steampunk tag.

I used LOTS of UmWowStudio chippies on my tag.

Here is my little comedy of errors video
on how I created my Love Angel tag!
(please be patient as I am
still trying to figure out all this video stuff!!)

Thought I would share a few close ups of my tag.

Hope you enjoyed my creative journey.....
I know I did!
It's is ALWAYS GOOD to step out of one's

July Challenge Inspiration with Jen

Hi everyone!  Jen here to share my take on this month's sketch challenge as my first post as DT member!  This is a perfect sketch for just about any type of paper project!  I followed the sketch pretty closely but did change it a bit.  I used two photos instead of one big one.  I also didn't use too much patterned paper with this.

Because it's July and we are celebrating the good 'ole US of A's Independence, I created a layout about last year's 4th of July tradition.  We take the kids and head to the ballpark for an evening of local baseball and fireworks!  What's more American than baseball, hot dogs, cotton candy and fireworks?  We have a blast and the fireworks are pretty amazing!
I used some UmWow Studio's star confetti on the page for some dimensional WOW!  Mix in some stamping and you get multiple layers of shapes that are perfect for this theme.
Did I mention how much I am in love with this Vintage Flag flair?  The size is larger than most and it's super dramatic and fun to embellish with these babies!

Instead of a paper rectangle behind the photos, I wanted to create texture and colors that make a statement.  I used Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Textural Accents Whipped Spackle through one of the gorgeous UmWow Studio's stencils.
You can see that I had the Whipped Spackle go over the edges to frame it in!  This was the first step.  I added multiple colors of Gelatos® and watered them down to create a "resist" effect.
I can't wait to see what you all create to go along with our challenge!  Link your projects up in the previous post and there will be a winner selected with a prize!
